Cobalt

I fell in love with Cobalt the way dog people fall in love with dogs without meeting them. I fell in love with him as a puppy, as a yearling, and then as a two year old. Brenda had offered him to me a few times, and kept on changing her mind. I asked Brenda to let me know when she’d finally commit, and even though I swore I’d never seek out the expensive and time consuming transport of dogs from Alaska to the Northeast, especially in the continuing pandemic……I did it anyway.
A hardworking, happy go lucky guy, with a stoic stance, barely moving at times, Cobalt has these quirky personality traits that likely came from his mom Oreo. He flops over sideways like a flat tire when I scratch his ears, he gets zooms when I brush him, and he never makes a sound. He’s a beautiful boy who is eager to please, and I can’t wait to develop him into a leader. Cobalt shares the same mom, Oreo, as Razz, and thus is a sort of uncle to the 2021 puppies.
Cobalt has a wonderfully balanced temperament, and gets along with all dogs of all genders and ages. With so many young 2 year old males in the team, there’s a lot of energy out there. Cobalt just cuts through it all, sending out a message that he’s not in it to hold any space as his own.
Cobalt is starting to step up in lead, not quite ready to lead a race but rocking leading training runs with Flora. When Cobalt returns home from leading, he has a slight bounce in his step, and his appetite jumps. ‘Big buck Cobalt’ is what Brenda (and now myself) call him as he marches around, totally pleased with himself. I’m very much looking forward to developing this sweet boy as a main leader.
