Hutton
Although her sister Woodchuck was definitely the larger, Hutton was the spunkier and more driven one. After letting the smaller spunkier female go in the previous litters (and having regretted it), I decided to keep the smaller spunkier female this time around.
Hutton from the get go has had an insane drive and wild intelligence. Her brain is clearly making decisions, inherited from her over-smart father Jameson. Fortunately her mom Razz’s boisterous joy and glowing confidence seems to balance Hutton’s intelligence, mixing into what might be the perfect sled dog attitude bound up in the tiniest sled dog body.
Towards the end of her spring hookups, Hutton was leading the small teams with confidence, charging uphill. I think we have a future leader in our hands, and definitely a future racing dog.

AMC Trails Litter (Hutton, Norkin, and Woodchuck/ Allagash)
The names of the AMC Trails litter are the buildings that made up the AMC Trails universe (in addition to Norkin supervising it all). Hutton was the staff housing and ‘trails bay’ of a workshop and tool storage. Hutton is a name and not just a fixed building, as AMC Trails staff live now in the third Hutton lodge, having moved between different locations in the 100+ year history of the trail crew. ‘Hutton’ bears the name from John Hutton, a 1930s-era trail crew member and one of the earliest trails supervisors. As a first year AMC trails staff, I lived in Hutton and sharpened my first ax in the trails bay.
